Tamil Nadu State level consultation on #coastalrights was held at Chennai on 24 June 2025

This consultation focused on bringing together 38 different stakeholders working for the rights of the #fishingcommunity among 14 #coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
• The key challenges faced by #coastalcommunities, including access to welfare schemes, housing rights, gender discrimination, and environmental issues were discussed.
• This consultation also proposes action plans such as improving digital access to benefits, securing land rights, and increasing support for #women and #singlemothers.
• The session aimed to strengthen #community support and push for inclusive #coastaldevelopment.
