Child Rights Trainning

HRF approaches child rights through the Right to Education (RtE).  Ensuring that all children remain in school up to the age of 18 helps prevent at least seven specific child rights violations viz (a) Child labour (b) Child marriage (c) Child sexual abuse (d) Child trafficking (e) Sex work (f) Conflict with the law (g) Malnutrition.

The training provided by HRF will enable child rights defenders (CRDs) to monitor and track the fulfillment of child rights right from the constitutional guarantees, international standards (UNCRC) and promises (SDGs), legal provisions to policy, budget, implementation (in schools, local government, health centres, district planning) and performance of government departments, officials and supervisory bodies (Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards etc.). It includes anti-discrimination monitoring and access to justice in case of any violation. Participants are provided tool kits for monitoring various aspects of child rights to facilitate proactive intervention.

The introductory courses are of two days each. Specialised training (for instance on monitoring the government or budget analysis, social media for child rights, status reports, scorecards etc.) varies from 3-5 days.
Each training has a one or two-day follow up after six months to a year.

HRF has trained over 1500 child rights defenders since its inception.
