TOT on Participatory Gram Panchayat Development Plan (South Zone)

A two day training to strengthen local governments using the legal frameworks of the Constitution was organized at Madurai on the 9th & 10th of July 2019 by Human Rights Advocacy and Research Foundation and co-organized by SAND Trust and ISM–WDRC. The programme was attended by 52 participants (29 women and 23 men).

The workshop focused on bringing an understanding of the roles and functions of the Panchayat, and monitoring the proper working of the Panchayat and how they can use the Panchayat structure for the welfare of their villages. The programme elaborated on the constitutional functions available for them under the parts IX and IXA of the constitution. The workshop concluded with the correlation of the UN SDG’s with the Panchayat goals and also with the formation and importance of the GPDP.
