- The Tamil Nadu Child Rights Protection Network was formed at the
State–Level Consultation on Strategies for the Promotion and Protection of Child Rights in Tamil Nadu at Chennai on February 9th and 10th Delegates participated included representatives of women organisations, dalit and teachers organisations, trade unions, human rights activists and voluntary organisations from 18 districts.
- Tamil Nadu Child Rights Protection Network was formed with a 42-member committee representing 16 districts and an Advisory Committee. Campaigns and Networks, NGO groups and other joined the Committee.
- On 30th June 2001, the First State Level Co-ordination Committee was held at Chennai to finalise a Plan of Action. 20 member organisations participated in the meeting from 14 districts. HRF was asked to convene the forum.
