Since 16 March 2001, the executive committee members of the federation met all the leaders of the political parties and present petitions to add strengthening of the Panchayat Government in the Party’s election manifesto. Following this, after winning in the assembly elections in October 2001, the AIADMK headed government, released an order accepting the main recommendation of the federation that ‘the constituency reserved for women should not be changed during rotation’.

To support the women presidents who fight for the public resources, complaint letters on the behalf of the federation are sent to government officials/ officers regarding those issues.

The convention’s district and state representatives got involved in the public hearing regarding the impacts caused by illegal sand mining in Tamilnadu which happened in Chennai on 19, 20 February, 2002. They talked about the looting of the sand in the Gram panchayats which contains the highly valuable Silicon, the impacts on the village due to it and the actions that were taken by them with regard to it. They spoke of some of their actions and then they heard the recommendations and advices of the Judges’ committee to face this issue.

In October 2008, in the national level seminar that was organized on National Rural Employment Scheme and local bodies that was held in New Delhi, more than 30 presidents took part on behalf of the federation and debated about the difficulties in implementing this scheme in Tamilnadu. A petition was presented by the federation members to Mr. Manishankar Iyer, Panchayatraj Minister and Mr. Raghuvansh Prasad, Minister, Department of Rural Development.

In December 2008, women panchayat president met with the Karnataka state local government representatives and discussed the differences between the local bodies in both the states on behalf of the federation. Also, they met with the three-tier panchayats’ representatives of the state and conversed with them.

On 25 February 2011, a public hearing was conducted for the panchayat presidents of Tamilnadu and Puducherry in Chennai on behalf of the federation. 44 cases from 16 districts were shared covering caste discrimination in the panchayats, disruption in their functioning, improper use of the authority granted under section 205 by the district collector, the human rights violations that are inflicted on the actions taken to protect public resources, the activities which oppose the destructive projects which damage the lives and livelihoods of people. More than 120 panchayat presidents and representatives from social organizations took part in this public hearing. Dr. V. Vasanthi Devi, Mr. M. Vallinayagam, Lawyer, Additional Director (Retd.), Rural Development, Mr. D. S Sivagami, Additional Director (Retd.), Municipal Administration, Mr. Sirivella Prasad, NCDHR, Prof. M. Thangaraj, Economics department, Madras University, Mr. V. Karuppan, IAS (Member, Committee for Restoration of Panchami Lands) and Mrs. Sudha Ramalingam, lawyer took part in the public hearing as moderators.

During the 2011 local body elections, a campaign for fair and independent elections was held. Booklets and posters (the responsibilities of the voters, including those of the canditates) were disseminated, and the campaign was spread all over the state.

During the March 2012 budget session TNFWPPG met the heads of the important political parties (including M.K. Stalin defacto head of the opposition party DMK and Mr. Gnanadesikan of Congress) and a charter of demands was given to raise in the assembly. A press meet was held to release the information to the main television and print media.

During the March 2015 Budget session on behalf of the federation we met all the heads of the important political parties and a petition with our demands was given to them. The federation members especially met with important leaders like M.K. Stalin, the State President of the Congress Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist) President G. Ramakrishnan, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi President, Thoz. Thirumavalavan, State president of BJP, Tamizhisai Soundarajan, Republic Party of India, President C.K Tamilarasan, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi President Mr. Jawahirullah, Pattali Makkal Katchi President G.K. Mani and Puthiya Thamizhagam President Mr. Krishnaswamy and asked them to voice their demands in the assembly.

During the September 2015 Budget session on behalf of the federation we met 9 important political party leaders, 10 members of the assembly and a petition with our demands was given to them. The federation members especially met with important leaders including M.K. Stalin, Mr. Vijayatharani of the Congress party, Tamizhisai Soundarajan, State president of BJP, and asked them to give voice to their demands in the assembly.

Advocacy with political parties to submit manifesto by representatives of the state committees of TNFWPPG and Tamil Nadu Dalit Panchayat Presidents Federation (TNDPPF) was on 30 November 2016. Around 8 panchayat presidents of TNFWPPG and 8 NGOs from the TNNGO alliance submitted the federation manifesto on local government for inclusion in their party manifestos.
