Team HRF comprises of seven women and three men with complementary skills, eight of whom are based in Chennai and two in New Delhi. Our Managing trustee-cum-Director, senior coordinator and four of five coordinators are women.

Our mandate, the work we do, and the locations we work in, require the team to have diverse skills, empathy with the poor, a human rights perspective and the ability to work in stressful conditions. HRF commits to nurturing its staff and will provide opportunity to acquire new skills.

Our team is dedicated, smart-working and professional, despite our salaries being lower than most, frequently working 12-16 hours a day, seven days a week, multi-tasking under tight deadlines and no known ‘benefits’. Even for a sector notorious for low pay, long hours, and high stress, HRF is an outlier in all three parameters.

Present opportunities at Chennai (Open until filled)

Coordinator (documentation and research) (1): This is a middle to senior level position, and involves about a week in the field per month. The key tasks are proposal and report writing, managing research including identifying researchers and supervising them, completing and final approval of research, and oversee allied support tasks such as translation, editing, printing the reports and organising national, state and sub-state level dissemination events. Knowledge of written and spoken Tamil and English is an essential requirement. Knowledge of computer office applications, especially word processing, data management, and website content management is desirable.
Reports to: Sr Coordinator (Programmes)

Associate Coordinators (documentation and research) (2): This is a entry to middle level position, and involves about a week in the field per month. The key tasks are report writing, field research, online data collection, trend analysis, and allied support tasks such as translation, editing, and organising programmes. Knowledge of written and spoken Tamil and English is an essential requirement. Computer skills will be an advantage.
Reports to: Coordinator (Programmes)

Associate Coordinator (programmes and social media) (1): This is a entry to middle level position, and involves about a week in the field per month. The key tasks are report writing, online data management and organisational online profile including the website, social media handles and information collection, trend analysis, and allied support tasks such as translation, editing, and organising programmes. Knowledge of written and spoken Tamil and English is an essential requirement. Computer skills are essential. Programme management expertise will be an advantage.
Reports to: Coordinator (Programmes)

Associate Coordinator (administration and finance) (1): This is a entry to middle level position, and involves about a week in the field per month. The key tasks are finance and programme administration (both office and field) allied support tasks such as organising programmes and vendor management. Knowledge of written and spoken Tamil and English is an essential requirement. Knowledge of accounting and management software will be an advantage.
